The Miniatures series has been started in 2007. In order to be accessible to a larger amount of people, this series offers smaller sizes of art works.
For this series, I use a playful and narrative iconography. Funny or poetic, these art works colour your daily life each time you look at them.
Used in a funky, festive and oniric way, animal iconography plays a major role in this project. Within each canvas, a story is told through some sort of text; narration, thoughts, poetry, lyrics…
In addition to the writing, bright colours and flat materials (photocopies, clipping from magazines…) are used to create the art works.
Every art work from the Les Miniatures series is created on a small piece of recycled wood, coming from cabinetmaking workshops, building sites or restoration works. The size varies from 4 x 4 inches to 17 x 17 inches.
The Miniatures project has been shown in Montreal, at Baguette & Bagatelle (2010), Bistro In Vivo (2008) and Dépanneur Café (2007). The project was also part of the Parcours d’artistes event in Brussel, Belgium (2008).
